How To Grow Your Business By Leading From Your Heart

Great leaders serve as a catalyst for bringing people together to focus and channel their creative efforts towards improving their productivity in their organization.

The ability to do this, to act as this catalyst that people actually choose to listen to and follow, isn’t something that great leaders are born with. Sure, one can of course be born with certain specific characteristics that are specifically suitable for leadership. And some of those characteristics need to exist in order for an individual to be a true leader – one that others want to and choose to follow – such as the ability to listen to others, to make people feel and know that they are recognized and appreciated for their efforts and contributions, to lift people’s spirits up instead of dragging them down, among other valuable and necessary qualities.

Great leaders have the ability to lead from their heart and with their wisdom as the essence for their leadership. They lead and live from heart to mind, not from mind to heart. To lead and live with our wisdom as our own personal guiding light is to be living a fulfilled life. It is what our core values in combination with our experience, knowledge and intelligence brings us. Our core values support us in getting to know ourselves and others, as well as in discovering what we find valuable and important. It’s in knowing and living according to our own values that we find life rich and purposeful.

It is also in knowing and living your core values that you will set a solid foundation for becoming a great(er) leader. By knowing who you are and what you stand for on all four dimensions that our human nature withholds, you will at any time be (capable of) feeling a sense of joy, compassion, balance and focus – as a human being and thereby also as a leader. This will surely be positively noticed and appreciated by the people around you. This is what makes a leader charismatic.

Great leaders are always open to new insights. They are aware of the importance of discovering new ideas as foundation for growth in all areas of life. Great leaders view life as a continuous journey of development and consider every experience as a possibility to learn something new. They are curious, observant, eager to try and to learn. They want to share their experiences with others and generously do so.

Great leaders share of themselves, openly and vulnerable from their hearts – they use their wisdom to share of their truth. This is their greatest strength as such view of life, and of development, also inspires and encourage the individuals around them to implement the same positive approach to professional, and sometimes even personal, growth. Great leaders inspire people to become the best they can be.

“Let your light shine. Be a source of strength and courage. Share your wisdom. Radiate love.” – Wilferd Peterson

Great leaders value and take time for reflection as this is an important part of ones growth journey. Take some time to reflect on and answer the following questions:

– What are the two or three most important things that motivate you?
– What values are the two or three most important ones for you – the ones that you feel brings you a deep sense of satisfaction, joy and happiness?
– What are the things that you current feel brings you the feeling of great satisfaction in the
a) physical,
b) social,
c) mental and
d) spiritual dimensions of your Life?

How to Keep Your Mind Sharp and Help Your Inspiration & Creativity

There are several factors in life that can make you feel as dull as a brick.

And the sad thing is that by the time you realize it, it’s very hard to returned to that focused state you remember you once had. Repeating curriculum, long periods of inactivity due to illness or other reasons may render a person not entirely able to function the way he or she once did.

Thus the need is born – to keep your mind sharp at all times. This stimulates your creativity and allows you to be inspired more easily.

The Underlying Factors

Ever notice how as soon as you passed elementary school you stopped doing math by hand, and started using the calculator?

Suddenly, you never multiplied anything using your brain anymore, and the next time you actually tried (after several years, no less) you could barely remember how it was done, let alone manage to pull it off quickly.

Same thing happens in many other spheres of life – your brain stops to work at full power once you find quick workarounds.

Doing lots of menial tasks and having a gray and monotonous everyday schedule can contribute to that too. These are things you should avoid at all cost.

Some Useful Tips to Promote a Sharp Mind

Here are a few valuable tips you can use to keep your mind sharp all the time.

  1. Take Care of Your Body

Most of us don’t have the time, resources or good will to be health nuts, however there are some simple things nearly everyone can do to keep their body fit to a certain extent, which will help the mind as well.

Romans used  to say that one should  have a “A healthy mind in a healthy body”, and to keep up to that proverb you can do a few simple things –  dedicate half an hour once or twice weekly for jogging, walk to work if that’s an option, or at least walk a mile every day, in whatever pace you want.

Reduce caffeine intake 4 to 5 hours before bed – this will make your sleep quite a lot healthier and will make you more productive in the morning.

  1. Read, Read, Read

A piece of advice you likely see quite too often.

It’s very likely that you’re already doing it, as you’re reading this article right now. But to keep up the good work, try finding lots of information and sifting through what might be relevant and interesting for you. Don’t be afraid to dig further into complex topics.

The other way is also an option – read less and more general information but for a variety of different topics. Once you explore lots of different things, you’ll be able to cross-reference and abstract them in your head, allowing for better creativity.

  1. Give Your Mind Some Rest from Time to Time

Leading psychologists suggest dedicating ten minutes per day to doing absolutely nothing.

That’s right, basically staring at the ceiling!

One might wonder what the purposes of that would be at first glance, but when you think about it , this is actually the most primitive form of meditation that anyone can do!

By doing this you’ll help prevent your mind from overloading.

  1. Find New Challenges, New Hobbies and New Tasks

An old proverb says that the mind is like the blade – it gets rusty if it’s not used. So to keep your mind from “catching rust” you’ll need to present it with a variety of new difficulties and challenges.

What better way to do that than to learn how to play an instrument for example? Or start a new hobby, like knitting, origami or any sort of applied art.

There are a plethora of tutorials and helpful communities online, and for most hobbies you’ll need to invest only a little money on the basic necessities you’ll need at first.

You can also find a pen pal to help you learn another language.

The opportunities are all around you!

Conclusion

In conclusion, following some kind of loose schedule can help direct your mind to becoming a more productive machine, or rather a furnace for new ideas and creations, making you a person who can derive inspiration from nearly everything around him.

Becoming A Conscious Leader

Conscious leadership isn´t anything complicated nor new. A conscious leader is an individual who possess awareness of himself and his role in being part of something bigger – humankind.

Conscious leaders are charismatic and very powerful, but their charisma and power is internally based and they use it only for a greater good – for causes bigger than themselves. They don´t need – or even desire – glory or to stand in the spotlight as they know that they are already – through their actions, not only words – standing in The Light.

Conscious leadership is the leadership of the Now and the Future, it´s what people are becoming increasingly drawn to.  Find out more about it in today´s video.

1-Minute Playbook: Don´t Spread Already Contained Conflicts

meeting-106591_1920As a leader it´s natural to desire a swift end to any current conflict in or between your team members or departments, while at the same time take the opportunity in question to share your expectations with your employees. However, this can easily – and often does – backfire.

When conflicts are localized to one or two individuals or departments, as a leader you need to avoid expanding them to the organization as a whole. If you hold a staff-wide meeting to admonish everyone about your expectations in terms of their behavior, the very common but unintended result is actually an increase in gossip and rumor as well as the taking of sides based on personal loyalties and sympathies. And that´s definitely not a good outcome for you or your organization. In other words, unless it’s something that directly applies to everyone, don’t involve them.
